Who We Are

Carolyn Fellrath-Cohen & Jonathan Cohen

Carolyn has served with the New York State Unified Court System since 2021. Previously, she held roles working directly with local elected officials and contributed to a range of state and local political campaigns, developing a strong foundation in civic engagement and constituent service.

Carolyn is a painter, sculptor, and fiber artist who is classically trained in Fine Arts. She studied at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop. Her work has been recognized by Etsy and Craft Magazine in its premiere issue.

Carolyn credits her commitment to service to the example set by her parents. She is passionate about supporting children, families, and individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges. Carolyn is the proud recipient of New Hour for Women and Children's 2026 Volunteer of the Year Award.

Jonathan serves as Policy Director of the New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA), where he works with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to advance clean energy solutions across New York.

His commitment to public service began long before his career in energy policy. Jonathan spent 18 years as a first responder with Suffolk County fire and ambulance companies and has remained actively involved in civic and community leadership throughout his life.

The Fellrath Cohen Ward Foundation grew from an idea he shared with Carolyn and Julia, inspired by their shared commitment to service and belief that showing up for others matters. Jonathan believes strong communities are built when people take responsibility not only for themselves, but for one another.

Jonathan and Carolyn live in Manorville with their family and their cavapoo, Max.

Julia has more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education and holds numerous certifications in the field. She is currently writing and illustrating children's books.

Julia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Hunter College and is an accomplished painter, sculptor, and paper artist. Her work has been recognized by Etsy and Craft Magazine in its premiere issue and was selected for the cover of Suffolk County Community College's Lilith Magazine.

Julia is passionate about passing on the values of kindness, generosity, and belief in the goodness of people to her three children. She serves as a PTA committee chair and is a dedicated class parent, known for delighting students and teachers alike with the giant themed sculptures she creates for class celebrations. She also designs props and sets for student theater productions, both at her children's schools and for productions directed by her husband, Matt, who is also an educator.

Julia and Matt live in Huntington Station with their three children. Julia is one of Denise Ward's greatest accomplishments.
